Air quality alert: The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an air quality alert effective from 10 a.m. Thursday August 5, until 9 p.m. Friday, August 6, for portions of west-central, northwestern, and north-central Minnesota, including the tribal nations of Leech Lake, Mille Lacs and Red Lake. The DNR does not issue burning permits in counties under air quality alerts.

  • Description: All burning permits within the city limits of Red Wing must be obtained from the Red Wing Fire Department. The permits can be picked up at the Commnunity Development Building at 419 Bush Street in Red Wing between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. After hours, permits are availble at the Red Wing Fire Department at 420 Plum St. Residential permit fee of $15 with additional fees for lot clearing or commerical development.
