  Recommended Planting Range

Leatherwood is a wonderful shrub that grows in deep shade in deciduous forests on rich, loamy soil. Over time, it develops a stout stem and a rounded form. The branches are leathery, and bend without breaking. The twigs have an interesting, jointed look.
