  Recommended Planting Range

  (previously: Aster sericeus)

Description

Silky aster is a prairie plant that grows on sandy, gravelly, or rocky soil in sunny, dry to medium-moisture conditions. It has slender, weak stems, small, silvery-green leaves, and surprisingly large flower heads for such a delicate plant. Best in airy setting; will not compete well with vigorous plants on rich soil.
